My Memorial day weekend with Axl at Sleepaway Camp O'Brien

I have always liked others like me....other rescues... other awesome canines...like my dear friends...Floyd, Esther, and G. I have shared wonderful memories with them; playing chase, smelling their behind, wrestling, trying to fight for attention from our pack leaders. Yes, all very good friends and wonderful times that I plan to have more of for sure.

  1. During my Memorial Day weekend this year at Sleepaway Doggie Day Care Camp O'Brien I was planning on meeting more rescues to play with and be friends with, but unbeknownst to me I was going to have a different kind of relationship than ever before. My pack leader mom Emily drove me in her red moving thing with me strapped in my seatbelt. When we go for rides my dog fur and floppy ears blow in the wind and many smells fill my snout and it's almost overwhelming. I usually enjoy going for rides because I normally get a treat of some kind especially after we go through the drive through. I normally bark at the stranger in the window.. but since Emily gives me treats I've been trying to bark less.  On Friday before Memorial Day Weekend we were in the car and I was thinking this might be another quick trip through the drive through for coffee and a doggie treat... THEN we  turned a different direction.  We pulled into a driveway on 53rd 1/2 street. I could smell other animals. a cat, a rat ....ESPECIALLY another dog! Ohhh how exciting! Play time! Mom unstrapped me from my seatbelt and I couldn't get out of the car fast enough. It was extremely difficult for me to obey my leader's "WAIT" command and to not just lunge out of the car to get to that dog and start playing as soon as possible! We went to the backyard and there he was... the finest set of four paws  I have ever laid eyes on. My heart started beating faster than a normal dog heart beat which is 60-100 beats per minute. So it must have been beating at least 100-120 beats per minute. I didn't know what do. I was barkless. His coat was so lush and shiny. His gait perfect and bouncy.  His ears flopping beautifully as he galloped across the yard. Without even thinking I just took off running around the nice big yard. I have long legs and LOVE to run, run, run. The fine looking brown furred handsome hound ran beside me as though we had been doing this for years. Our strides were the same distance. Our breaths were perfectly in sync. It was truly magical. Then I heard his pack leader call out his name. "AXLLLLL!!!" Axl. Axl Rose. My darling. Where have you been all my life?

Jill - I'm infatuated with you - An autobiographical memo from Cleopatra Jones

No bones about it...You are amazing and I'm infatuated with you. I am in love with all that you are and every way you move. The way you eat. The way you help my pack leader organize her house. The way you file. All so perfect and precise. All so amazingly wonderful. I follow you around like a lost puppy because I am lost without you.You obviously clean yourself because your scent is addicting every time I am around you.  I just want a lick for a single taste of your perfectly soft and cleaned skin. Just one lick on the arm? Is it too much to ask? Just one taste of your steak dinner? I know your dinner tastes the best.  Just a nibble? What I would do for a stroll with you around the block. Just you, me, and the squirrels. Can you imagine? I lay next to you as close as you will let me get waiting for a pet on my head or my back. I'll wait. I'll be patient because I do love you so. Thank you for being such a wonderful person. I have heard so much about what you have done to help others.  I strive to be a better dog because of you. Thank you for the gifts you have sent me and letting me stay in your den. I know it's not the easiest thing for you, but it really does mean the world to me. I love you Jill for now and forever.I swear my paw on it.

Barking at the Carpet Cleaning Man - a two hour musical

(Please sing while reading along)

I'm barking at the carpet cleaning man... I'm barking, I'm barking .. at the carpet cleaning man..
He pulled up in our driveway in a suspicious looking van.. I'm barking, I'm barking ... at the carpet cleaning man.

Is he male? YES! Is he a stranger? YES! Do I know his scent? NO!
These are all validated facts that make my trust in this person very much lax

I'm barking, I'm barking, at the carpet cleaning man for two hours until he leaves in his van.

Get out of here. Please go. Please leave. I want you to get out of here you must believe.
You're sweaty, you're shady, and no lady. Get out of here you carpet cleaning man!

Take your big scary vacum and your suspicious white van and please...please I never want to see you again.. you carpet cleaning man!

Smells funny

I certainly do smell something....something funny going on around here. My pack leader hasn't been cleaning herself lately...and she's been hanging at the den all day for the last week...it smells funny indeed

I smell something.  Do you, Cleo? Birch.
